Sorting out my study habits

Sorting out my study habits

Getting on top of my study habits was one of my biggest challenges when I started college. College, after all, doesn’t have the same sort of structure as high school does. There’s no one breathing down your neck making sure that you’re doing all the required reading and homework and assignments. In fact, in many cases, no one bothers to set any readings or homework at all–it’s up to us as students to make sure we’re doing the required amount to stay ahead of the crowd. Or at least on par with them.

Each semester I found myself making the same promises: that I’d do all my readings on time, and that I wouldn’t leave my assignments to the very last minute. Of course, at the beginning of each semester, I spent a lot of time color-coding timetables and ensuring that my stationery matched, so my intentions weren’t perhaps really there in the first place.

One thing that I found really helpful in getting on top of my reading was to allot a particular time each day to reading, and try to do the reading itself in a place without any distractions. For me, this meant somewhere away from the internet, and away from my friends. Often, the library was a great place to study–it was quiet, and its studious air made me want to do the right thing and get on with my work. I also found, over time, that breaking down my assignments into small, manageable components really helped me stay on track. Rather than sitting down to write an entire essay, I’d set myself a task of 100 words a day, or X many pages of research. These little mind games stopped the tasks from becoming daunting–after all, daunting tasks were often one of the main causes of my procrastination.

I need some input from all of you on this one, I was talking to my cousin the other evening and she asked me to visit this site on Smartlipo. I suspect she is actually thinking about getting this done. How do I go about approaching the subject of saying that she shouldn’t be compelled to do this and she should try a natural alternative of losing weight first
